This cable is specially designed to handle high-speed data transfer and power delivery to the Starlink dish. For Starlink Gen 3 and Gen 2, the cable utilizes PoE technology for both power and data, but the Starlink Mini does not support PoE.
Q2: How many meters is the Starlink cable?
A: The standard Starlink cable that comes with the Gen 3 system is 15 meters (49.2 feet) long. Other versions like the Gen 2 or Performance kits may have cables up to 25 meters (82 feet) in length. Longer cables, up to 50 meters (164 feet), can be purchased separately for larger installations.

A: Starlink cables vary depending on the version:
- Mini: Uses a special waterproof round cable, designed for durability and weather resistance, ensuring it works well in outdoor environments.
- Gen 2: Uses a custom cable specifically designed to connect the router to the dish. It is unique to Starlink and not compatible with standard cables.
- Gen 3: Uses a specialized RJ45-like cable, but it is not a standard RJ45. It’s custom-made for Starlink systems, with a different connector design than typical RJ45 cables.
Q4: What type of cable connector does Starlink use?
A: Starlink uses different types of cable connectors depending on the device generation:
- For Starlink Mini: It uses a standard RJ45 Ethernet connector for data transmission and a separate power cable for power supply. Note that when the Mini’s data port is connected with a standard RJ45 cable, the device will no longer maintain its IP67 waterproof rating. It is recommended to use the Starlink Mini cable to ensure optimal device performance.
- For Starlink Gen 2 and Gen 3: They use custom-designed waterproof connectors that carry both data and power through a single cable. These are not standard RJ45 connectors, providing enhanced waterproof protection and stable performance.
